The Castelli Men's Competizione 2 LTD Bibshort is made to do everything right without overdoing anything. This short incorporates as much technology as possible from Castelli's top-of-the-line pro-level race shorts at a more accessible price. And although it's certainly capable of weekend racing, it's also a great comfort performance short even if you never pin on a number.
The majority of the Competizione 2 Bibshort features Vortex textured fabric. It uses a wide, stretchy leg gripper with integrated silicone to ensure a comfortable, secure fit. The bib straps have been updated: the back is mesh for breathability, while the straps are a lightweight elastic and are comfortable for hours in the saddle.

I've been riding Castelli Competizione shorts for awhile and generally like them a lot, but with the following faults; 1) they run small. At 5'11" 156 lbs I typically wear a medium or large race type cut short in most brands, but these run so small I wear a XL. 2) The leg grippers are nice but way too loose. The new "2" shorts carry forward these faults but they've changed the "bib" style/sewing and material to something super cheap and total crap.... they're like thin elastic bands that curl up and come across your shoulders like a string. The short's material is also different, much more plastic like, it's even kinds shiny. Bottom line..... the "2"'s compare to $50.00 shorts.... but with a nice chammy.
When on sale the Competizione 2 Bibshorts are an excellent value that come in a variety of colors with different Castelli accent logo combinations. I have multiple versions of the Black, Green and Blue. I actually find the KISS Air2 seat pad more comfortable than the Progetto X2 Air Seamless seat pad that is found on the more expensive models. I tend to chalf more with the Progretto pad vs the KISS Air2. Overall I am very happy with the various Competizione variants as they are cost effective and meet my needs. I find the quality overall is good as the shorts last well with only logos occasionally pealing off. I am 5' 10", 180 lbs and wear XXL. I am a daily rider that typically rides about 25 miles during the week and 40 miles on weekends.
These are great shorts, as usual up to the high standards expected of Castelli products.
The padding is very well designed offering very high comfort levels on longer rides or frequent daily use.
This design of shorts is great for hot summer days as the material appears to perform well in the heat and the low cut front design gives maximun airflow to the front of the rider.
Well worth giving these a try, once you do you will be hooked.
Have a total of 4 new and older competizione bibs. Reasonably priced. Shammy is comfortable, functional and durable. Older model vs newer model straps differ. I liked the older model straps. The new ones are shorter in length. I am 6'0, 153 lbs with a 34 inch waist and 38 inch hips. I buy these in a size large. I buy them primarily because of the shammy. Average 100+ miles per week over 3-4 rides. Have no saddle sores. Because of the straps on the newer model I gave them a rating of a 4. Old ones were a 5.
I have a few pairs of the original Competizione bibs and have always found them to be a good value for the price. The quality is good and the fit of the multi-panel design works well for me. The 2's changed the uppers from the traditional bib design to the new strap design that everybody seems to be moving to. Partly because Castellis always run at least 1-2 sizes small, the bibs stay in place even with the minimal uppers. They may be slightly cooler than the traditional cut as well since there's less overlapping fabric between the bibs and jersey, but I'm still not a huge fan of the change. Overall though, these bibs are still an outstanding value with solid materials, cut and craftsmanship.
Nice bibs that look good but are clearly a budget take from Castilli. The straps are too thin and dig into the shoulders a bit and the waist is very low. Many better options in this price range.
I prefer the Castelli bibs with the KISS pad as it is my go to for rides in the 70 mile range. The material and craftsmanship are excellent. Drawback: minor, but actually prefer the more traditional bib cut in the front . I need to size up for Castelli bibs. I order the XL. I'm 5'9" and weigh 177.
