Within the realm of gravel tires live almost too many options. Deciding where to go, what to select is challenging...
It doesn't need to be. Go with ramblers. It's really that simple. 60 tpi will be a slightly harsher ride, vs 120 tpi. But either are great depending on your needs.
This is a great tire for gravel riding and is perfectly at home with mixed surface (dirt and paved roads). Just purchased a set and was surprised that the 700 X 40mm - EXO/TR Black was listed at 375g per tire. Weighed at receipt and the tire masses were 442 g and 415g. This would not prevent me from purchasing another set in the future.
I'm not a racer, but am instead looking for good safe traction with reliable cornering and grip - These tires up the confidence game so much on my gravel bike. Love them!
The tires easily, I did it bare-handed. Traction and road feel is good providing for a comfortable and confident experience. I recommend that you be mindful of your clearance if you are moving up from a narrow tire, these are tires have knubs at the edges that were a tight fit for my bike.
Easy rolling and great cornering
I love the way these ride however they will not hold air. I have set up a lot of tubeless tires and never had problems like this. They go so flat over night that the sealant runs out. They have very little resistance to puncture. I am 71 years old and not that hard on things.
After only about 300 miles my rear Rambler 700X40C Silk Shield developed three large bubbles. I was able to puncture them and continue riding, but they continued to leak sealant. Obviously this is a small sample size and this maybe a one off kind of thing, but it warrants watching.
Over 600 miles already on these and holding up great. They roll hero gravel like a champ with enough tread to grab when the hero turns chunky and loose. When I decide to live a little more rowdy on some single track they are up to the task as well. All in all these are a great all around gravel tire in my book! Tubeless setup was so easy I was able to seat them with a floor pump by hand!
Very bad esthetically the black is painted up the sidewall in several spots and looks extremely unprofessional. I don't own a wallmart bike and if I did this would suit it. Totally unacceptable, should of never passed qc.
This is the do everything tire. Rolls well, grippy, durable, responsive. Dirt roads, single track, gravel, pavement.
Looking for a tire to do the TAT across Arkansas. I've found it. Just yhe right mix of toughness and roll. The silkshield does not make the tire too stiff. May need 3 hands to mount it, but very much worth the effort. Will buy again.
I purchased a set of these in June of 99 for my Lynskey gravel build They roll great and grip well in all but the roughest conditions They were a little fragile so when I started to get frequent leaks ( I'm running tubeless ) on the rear I replaced it with a slightly heavier silk shield version So far I am happy I did Holds air better and no leaks so far

My WTB tires that came with my Cannondale were horrible. They lost air and I had to repair holes in my tubeless tires twice! The Rambler is rugged and holds air sturdy up and down San Gabriel Mountain trails. I ride up 10% grade paved roads for few miles before the dirt and no issues with the knobby tires. A big part of my Topstone bike is that I feel solid on any surface
Both of these tires are seated properly but do not run smoothly. They are just flawed. Other than visually this doesn't seem to negatively affect the ride. I like the weight, tread and the tire in general except this.
Rode these for about 900 miles, mostly on road, and got a pretty good bulge after a pretty light gravel session. I ran them tubeless for that time and loved them up until that point. For gravel tires I expected them to last a little longer as the centerline of the tire has some significant wear.
This is my go to tire for my gravel. It is a great overall tire for multi-surface riding.
Very nicely constructed tire. Light weight , wears well, and rolls very quickly on smooth roads. The knobs and 45mm are very confidence inspiring on the rough stuff. I'm on my 2nd pair I like them so much
I've ridden the Ramblers for several years on hard and loose packed gravel. They have great traction, hold to the surface well, but if they do lose grip they recover quickly. I have periodically tried other great tires, but always go back to the Ramblers.
I got these in the silk shield 45mm for my Diverge. They're awesome tires for a mixed surface ride. Definitely plenty of rolling resistance, so don't expect to set any PR's on your road segments. Plenty of grip on gravel and light single track to have a little fun.
