I've used the regular Maurten 160 sans caf for years and I've loved it. I've always found it to be a great supplement to your snacks and hydration plan. I got low dexterity points so I struggle to eat on the bike and sipping this is a great way to "eat" a little as you go. Now I had thought 320 calories and caffeine might have been overkill but I got the chance to try this recently and maybe I was just having a good day, but I felt invincible. I put in 3.5 hours with nothing but this and a banana over 50k and several big climbs. It felt surreal how fast and far I could go. I may amend the review if it doesn't hold up but given the consistent results I've had from the "diet" Maurten, let's call it, I can't imagine this failing to meet the high standards I've come to expect from the brand. My only complaint is that this version tastes MUCH sweeter than the regular. It's quite saccharine, for sure. Not a deal breaker, but the mild almost flavorless sweetness of the 160 apparently needs to be cranked up to 11 to pack in those extra calories. I get it. I can deal. Highly recommend this, especially on long rides, or even on medium length ones if you don't want to stop to eat.
Ive found it hard to try new drink mixes but this was a pleant surprise. Appriciate the neutral, sweet flavor which leaves room to let my other nutrition(bars/gels/gummies) fill the taste category. Glad I commited to the 14 pack.
