There's so many chamois creams out there to choose from but I highly recommend the one from Docs Skincare. The name "Skincare" is exactly how this cream works to combat soreness.
Road riding
I have used Doc's chamois cream for years. Great stuff I don't go on a ride without it.

Im more partial to a thicker viscosity
This is a bit thin for me but its not horrible stuff- I personally prefer Button Hole
