I have been running egg beaters since they came out yrs ago and have never broke one at 220# it is something to think about ,started using them on mountain bikes in the willamette valley in Oregon where mud comes from Saturday and they never pack up .when times comes they are very easy to rebuild at home with the appropriate rebuild kit, running on 9 bikes with great success.
My old eggbeaters were just plain worn out. Feels great in the new ones
These were a no brainer. Priced right. Lightweight. Rock solid pedals. I mostly bought them for the price and weight but like the feel and ease of entry when riding on trails or dismounting often.
These are on all of my bikes. Yes you need to rebuild them from time to time but worth it for a super simple, easy entry and very light platform for xc racing.
Needed something for the Cross bike and read all of the reviews I could find. Have ridden many miles and two mid-fest gravel races.
Pedals performed flawlessly in the mud. Smooth and secure.
I actively race master level mountain bike and cross. These are the only pedal I use and have had great success.
I like these pedals, but, was surprised at how easy they bend if you hit a rock. two of the four wings are softer metal.
A better value would be the eggbeater 3, which has all four wings made of stronger metal, and better bearings.
I bent mine after 2 hours of riding, and fortunately, I could bend them back into shape, but, I have older eggbeaters that I have used for years that have been mashed against rocks hundreds of times and never did bend.
O the plus side, crankborthers offered to repair them, and even better, to replace the weaker wings with the harder metal for a small upgrade fee. Nice.
3rd pair of Crank Bros.
2nd pari of EggBeaters.
Good stuff !
