It used to be a great tire. Not anymore. Terrible material quality. Great company but not for their GP 5000 product anymore.
Improve handling and speed
I'm happy to be back on the Conti's.
Marketers tell us, new and improved, but I cannot really tell the difference between the 4000 and 5000 tires, both roll fast and are susceptible to sidewall gashes. My rear Grand Prix 4000 and 5000 never wear out in the rear tire, they always gash out in the sidewall.
I put Grand Prix 4000 tires on my Giant, and was very happy with the ride and handling. I thought if the 4000 tires worked so well I would go up a notch and purchased the Grand Prix 5000 tires for my newer Specialized. The tires did not disappoint the ride and handling is just as good if not a little bit better, nice tires.
Buy 4000, new GP 5000 wears way faster.
Fast rolling, grippy tire. 4-500 miles in and no complaints.
Pump up to 100 PSI and your bike becoms the rocket.
These are the only tires i put on our bikes! And for the price this is perfect.
Rolls great and durability.
Handling is excellent,
Puncture resistance is good.
Very aesthetic.
These are excellent tires, but if I did not know whether I was on my older 4000s or my new 5000s I could not tell the difference.
Much easier to mount than the tubeless gp 5000
I have it on all my bikes 25's on my Cervelo S5 and 28's on my new Pinarello F. Its durable, fast and light everything i look for in a tire.
Easy to install, smooth rolling, good puncture protection & good looking
We switched over to the 32s of this model from a light touring tire for the summer. We have a tandem that can run up to 38s but these fit the bit for nice pavement to chip seal country roads. They are much faster and corner great. They also have a nice road feel as the larger volume lets us get away with lower pressure. Wouldnt take these on dirt, but thats not what they are made for!
I ride this tire in a 700c x 25mm size daily on asphalt, typically 20 - 60 miles. I used to switch to Gator Skins for Fully Supported week long tours, but this year I have left the 5000S tires on my bike rims and they are proving surprisingly flat resistant. I may switch to a 28mm width for the next week tour.
Took another chance after giving up on earlier Grand Prix versions due to way too many flats, blow outs, etc. Tried these and they are great!
I have rode these tires last 2 of the 9 RAGBRAI's I have participated in. Continental makes a quality product. Well worth the price.
Mount super easy. Very reliable and grippy tires. Good puncture protection too.
