The Assos Men's Tactica Kieskafer T5 are off-road bib shorts blending performance and durability for competition and touring alike, refined with integrated storage, a more compressive textile, and a simplified, weight-saving construction.
The TACTICA KIESKAFER T5 replaces the GTC KIESPANZER C2 with a lighter, more breathable, and more compressive construction. The key upgrades are the Type.911 textile, and the stabilizing rollBar, which are adapted from the Racing Series, bringing high-intensity road performance to off-road riding. The thigh pockets are also larger, granting expanded storage for easy access to ride essentials and fuel. For the T5 generation, Assos also updated the insert with more shock-absorbing foam, muting chatter and smoothing repeated impacts on gravel and trails.

These bibs are incredible. I've tried several brands such as Rapha, Aerotech Design, BlackBibs, Neo, Gorewear and none of them give me the soft and complete flexibility of what Assos bibs do. I love the cross straps because they truly stop the chamois from moving around. The fit is a little more towards the racey side than comfort but I don't think that's a negative because it's like having a second skin as clich' as that phrase is. I will say my only small gripe is I wish the pockets had a reinforcement stitch at the opening because sometimes my phone camera bump catches the opening takes a little effort to get it fully in the pocket. A very small nitpick though. I'm an Assos buyer for life!
I bought these for the Mid-South 100 mile gravel race in 2026. I did a short 20 mile ride in them before the event and that's all the 'break in'.
For the race, they were great! These are my first Assos product. It is also the most I've spent on bib shorts, but well worth it. Good compression and about the right weight fabric for a spring race. Could see them being a little hot for summer road use.
Chamois was comfortable. It didn't feel too diaper-like and didn't bunch up. The chamois is well ventilated.
I'm happy with my purchase and will consider other Assos bib shorts or tights in the future.
I've tried, and generally been happy with, many different brands premium tier chamois over the years - Pearl Izumi, Rapha, Giordana, etc.
But this is by far the most comfortable chamois I e ever worn. The unique separation of the chamois from the compressive material also ensures that it stays in place better, and that the bike seat never 'grabs' the bib material when adjusting or dismounting. The materials, cut, pocket design are different than I'm accustomed to, but I'm adjusting to those. The chamois alone is worth any minor other features that may not be perfect.
I have been using this bib short just like the previous version, on road and gravel. The legs are long for protection with good compression and the grippers are wide and hold. The pockets are secure and large enough to hold my iPhone and easy to access while riding. The pockets are close to the thigh when empty and easy to stash wrappers while riding. I actually had to look if my phone was on my thigh because it was so comfortable. This short has everything I need for comfort and ride protection. The chamois is very comfortable and the shorts are abrasion resistant.
Having pockets is very useful for any ride. Just did STP in these bibs and I really appreciated the comfy chamois and the pockets which I used for my phone, gels, and other stuff that I wanted quick access to. Much easier to get to compared to jersey back pockets that are hard for me to reach.
