Pacific Crest Recap
The Athletes Lounge/Western Bikeworks crew traveled to beautiful Sunriver, OR to support Pacific Crest competitors this weekend. More than 2,000 athletes participated, with some competing in multiple events over 3 days. Friday started off with a beautiful ride through the Cascades and around Mt. Bachelor, while others enjoyed a 25K run along the Deschutes River Trail.
Saturday was the premier event with a long course triathlon, consisting of a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, and a 13.1 mile run. Even with the heat that hit the Northwest region, elite times were still close to the 4 hour mark. Professional triathlete Matt Lieto took honors for the 5th time, while Erin Green ran down the field of elite women to take 1st place.
Sunday was the Olympic standard distance race, along with a much shorter sprint event in temps close to 100 degrees. Matt Berg clinched the men's Olympic title while Nicole Krill took the honors for the women's title.
The racing all weekend was fast and exciting, and our staff loved being on hand to cheer everyone on. We're always proud to support the Pacific Crest Triathlon with mechanic support and race day items for over a decade. Congrats to all, and we'll see you again next year!
