I have been wearing Sidi Mega sized shoes, 48, ( one Competitive site lists this as a 12.7 US ) for over a decade. Most recently I have been using Sidi Ergo 5 Mega and I was having some comfort issues. I use a professional bike fitter who also uses a customizable sole to optimize foot position. That said, I saw the sale and I ordered the Sidi Genius 10 Mega. When the shoes arrived they were different than the picture with upgraded black toes and tongue. I'm a fashionista so I like the hipster look. Think 70's cars with black vinyl roofing. When I inserted my foot I noticed the boot was very roomy. The heel cup was secure. As I cinched down the Techno wire, I noticed that the comfort on top of the foot was better for me than the Ergo model. The Genius in comparison distributes up along the length of the foot instead of across like the Ergo. Also, there is plenty of room for much warmer socks as the weather cools. I noticed that the extra room and Techno system did not irritate my 5th metatarsal giving me foot comfort. My feet did not feel confined and I was able to put maximum pressure down while going up punchy climbs. The other true test; at the end of the ride I didn't immediately pull off my shoes. Maybe meaning I could ride a little longer with comfort. I would buy these again.
The Sidi Mega shoes have the widest toe box of any major brands on the market. If you have only slightly wider feet, the Shimano's may be a better fit, but if your foot is E or EE width, then this is the show for you. I like that most parts are user replaceable and that extends the life of the shoe. Also, I find that they are really stiff out of the box and a couple hundred miles help to break them in properly.
Bought a pair of Genius4"s for $195 in 02. had to replace the Velcro last year. This year the instep strap split. Thay have them for sale but are on back order until end of march. meanwhile I taped the split with gorilla tape and will use them for my trainer bike until new ones are in. meanwhile, I Ordered a pair of the same size Genuis 10's (on sale for $276) and they fit perfectly. 21years and old and new ones fit exactly the same. old shoes still in great shape, after 2 minor repairs. Great quality shoes.
I love Sidi megas as my 11.5 EEE foot fits great.
Comfortable shoe as previous Megas but I have to stop every 20 miles to tighten strings which is inconvenient
Good cycling shoe. Rigid sole was immediately noticeable in performance. I made a new PR on a 4 mile climb when I wasn't pushing hard. Of course, a tailwind helped a bit too. But overall, noticeable difference with the new shoe. Only issue is it is rubbing a bit on the left foot metatarsal but I assume that will calm down with breakin so I alternate wearing the old and new shoe assuming the breakin will occur soon.
shoe fits great my foot has gotten wider due to a bunion and I couldn't even pull enough Velcro on my old ones the ratchet system really helps
