I bought this to fit my Specialized Stumpjjumper FSR. The bar allows me to load it onto the Yakima Halfback 3. The ends (red in the picture) are rubberized and after a couple dozen trips have NOT scratched the bike. The bar telescopes, making it easy to get it on and off of the bike.
I was desperately in search of a crossbar adapter that would handle a relatively compact frame -- in my case, 22 inches from seatpost to handlebars. The Yakima is one of the few that can handle it with ease. Although there is a little slack when attached, the adapter does not scratch the bike and is going nowhere.
Because it mounts to the seatpost -- as with other similar adapters -- there is always the remote possibility of the seat coming out of the post and the bike falling off the rack. To prevent this from happening, I always check that the seatpost is securely tightened and tie down the frame to another bike when I can.
Overall, another quality Yakima product that meets my need!
Perfect and easy solution to attaching my bike with a sloping top tube to my bike storage stands in the garage. This adapter is easy to hook and unhook, and built like a tank!
These were really easy to use. They fit the bikes that needed them in order to use the bike rack. I wasn't sure about resting them on the rear light, but we traveled two hours with them that way and no harm was done. Rear lights tilt up to accommodate the tube top.
The adapter is necessary for carrying a female bike on the hitch rack.
