I put this rack on my steel frame road/commuter bike six or seven years ago. I've loaded it up with panniers and a tent bag for short tours, I've strapped big bags of cat litter to it, I've carried groceries. Most of the time, to be honest, it just carries my u-lock, which slots neatly in on either side of the platform across the top. I've crashed the bike a time or two. This rack stood up impressively to all of that for quite a long time. The platform across the middle wiggles a little, but that makes it easier to get the u-lock in and out, so that's okay. Recently, I noticed that one of the rails had broken - probably from my heavy u-lock rattling around next to it. It still functions just fine to carry my lock, on the other side now. And I'd feel secure enough carrying a pannier full of groceries on the other rail, too. But this isn't a lifetime rack. It's just a great functional addition to an everyday bike. For a rack you'll be able to use and abuse and move from bike to bike forever, look at Tubus.
Install was simple and rack is sturdy and seems very durable. Rack is versatile and allows for multiple types of attachments (panniers, crates, baskets, etc). Rack also has a convenient rear-light attachment hole, yay safety!
I installed this on my 29er hard tail mtn bike to carry stuff to and from the Y. It took my about 30 minutes to install and then attach my panniers. Fit the 29er perfectly.
perfectly reasonable econo-rack. The hardware and fittings are higher quality than most at this pricepoint
This rack does exactly what I needed it to do, and was inexpensive. Mounting was simple with the supplied instructions and parts, and it doesn't rattle or make any annoying noise. Thumbs up!
Put this rack on my old Fuji sports 12 and mounted a basket on the rack. Use this for trips to the grocery store, library, farmers markets. Rack is very sturdy even when basket is full it does not affect handling of bike at all. Good product for a good price.
I installed this rack on my Cannondale Synapse which is probably not intended for a rack, so I had to do a bit of creative fashioning to get the horizontal mounting bracket to work. The included brackets were too small to fit around the joint of the seatstays and seat tube so I bought galvanized tab tape and wrapped it with electrical tape. Works great now.
Vertical mounting to the braze-ons was simple as can be.
Rack is quite strong, doesn't make too much noise, resists chipping and scratches, and it pairs wonderfully with the Banjo Brothers' Folding Grocery Panniers.
Primary use is commuting,to haul extra clothes. As far as likes, I love it. Dislikes I have none.
Provides a lightweight solid platform to carry personal items on your bike. The welds are clean and finish is durable. The hardware included to attach it to the bike made it easy to install.
If you need a rack for your beater bike, then this is perfect. I've put it on a 20 year old mongoose MTB for commuting. Perfect for attaching all the odds and ends I need to carry. Nothing special, nothing exciting just non-descript and basic rack.
