I own three of the shirts. They are warm when it is cold yet comfortable if it warms up. Love them
Soft wool. I wear three layers in the winter, a base, a wool jersey, and a shell. I found I can handle a wide range of temperatures with this combo. This is a great jersey. Alone it will let the wind blow through it, but with a shell it is super warm. I will get another one.
I have an average build but I'm not a small man nor am I skinny. I need not have worried about the size because this jersey fit like it is supposed to. Love the red color, too. My last one was not nearly as nice as this merino wool and it shrunk after a few washings. This one is outstanding.
I like this jersey because it is a heavier weight than most base layer wool products. It definitely smells less after several consecutive days of riding which makes it ideal for a commuter.
I use this for endurance riding. The XL is a bit short for me at 62 and 200 lbs, but it fits fine. Good quality build, as well.
I've had my wool jersey for three years and it's perfect for the winter commutes when the temperatures dip into the single digits. Since it is wool, which means it breathes, I wear it as a base layer and add a couple more layers to block the cold air. I'm 6'4, 230 and the extra large jersey fits fine. I love it so much I'm buying another as backup. While one dries, I wear the other.
Well made, good fit, great price. Just a decent lunch pail wool jersey. Perfect for winter commuting. Its got some quirks, the neck is a bit tight on me with the zipper all the way up. It hangs a bit below my jacket. The fit is relaxed, which isnt perfect, but isnt terrible.
Big, deep, reinforced pockets. Half zipper is long enough to get real airflow when you need it. Not flashy or blazoned with logo mania. The wool is good, but not as soft as my old swobos.
But, it does the job, its built to last, its generally comfortable, its wool (which is the way to go imho), and the price cant be beat.
I've been riding bikes seriously since the days that all that was available was, all-wool. This jersey is made like they used to be! Steel bikes have a unique feel, and wool clothing is in the same vein, along with leather saddles and shoes. Some things just work, and have no need to be improved. Get them while you can.
There are better colors and better-fitting jerseys out there, but not for this price. This jersey is soft, warm, and a medium fits me well. I'm 5'8 155 lbs.
Essential part of 3 layer riding down to 0F. Perfect on it's own for high 40's to mid 50's. I wear it for almost every morning ride.
So comfortable I forget to take it off or just wear it as a shirt. It does fit loose, but it doesn't flap in the wind. Definitely worth the money.
Perfect jersey as a stand alone or to be used as a layer. Kucharik has always made great products, this is no exception!
I ordered this because it said it was 100% merino wool.
The cuffs and collar are made with cotton. This means the cuffs and collar don't wick. At all.
I wouldn't recommend this jersey until they change the cuffs and collar.
Usually don't wear something this bikey on my daily commute but these jerseys are too comfy not to. Also wore on 100 mile ride in iffy weather and again comfy - not too hot and breathes better than tech fibers. I bought orange medium (medium sometimes tight but this was not).
Dang near a perfect wool long sleeve jersey. Exceptionally comfortable, well cut to fit a cyclists riding position. Quality construction, warm, well thought out features.
For the price, you get an awful lot for your money, many other merino wool jerseys cost way more than this one.
Once you go wool you never go back. This jersey is perfect for Portland winters. I used it on a mid February ride and while others had synthetic jerseys which required they also sport jackets, I was very comfortable with a base wool long sleeve T and this jersey. The rear pockets are deep and roomy. I'm an average medium but I got this in Large so I could wear base layers beneath. If you want a snug fit they are true to jersey sizing.
I typically wear a large and this jersey in a large fits perfectly, (meaning loose enough to be comfortable, not aero), even after multiple washings. It is thin enough to wear up to about 65 degrees with the sleeves pushed up. I combined it with layers for temps of about 53 or less. The feel of the merino wool is very soft without any hint of itchiness.
I purposely wore it longer without washing to test the odor control and it only continued to have a slight wool smell.
All that and it's made in the USA!
Excelent price when I purchased the shirt. Warm and yet cool when you wear it wo a jacket...
This is my first foray into the world of wool cycling gear. I really like this jersey. It is great for those cool mornings or light sprinkles. And if I don't have time to hit the showers before my first meeting at work, I don't have to worry about smelling like I didn't have time to hit the showers before my first meeting.
It's a bit pricey but wool is hot right now so companies can get us to pay it.
I am very pleased with this wool jersey. I'm 6'1 and have a few extra
lbs and the XL fit perfect. I prefer the Merino wool over
any of the modern synthetics- it may sound strange but it keeps you
warm when you need warmth, and it lets you cool off when you need that.
This is my absolute favorite jersey to wear for almost all days here on
the Central Coast of California- for very windy days I bring a windbreaker
along just in case. The orange color has stayed vibrant though... well more
washes that I can remember- but one of best things about wool is that if you
can just let it air dry several times in a row and it doesn't get stinky- several
family members have confirmed this... or at least not complained.
We actually bought this as a gift for our son. The last time we visited he and I rode for a couple of hours in low 30 degree weather. He wore the jersey under a nylon outer shell and stayed comfortable. He loves it.
Hi,
Thanks for your review! According to Kucharik, this jersey is in fact 100% wool, including the cuffs and collars, though they are knit differently (ribbed). We'd love to help you out with a return if you're not satisfied with your jersey. Just get in touch with our customer service department at [email protected].
Thanks, Stacia
