I got these on super sale here at BikesTiresDirect.com for those lo-viz commuting days/nights. These go to 11 and light up like the 4th of July when headlights hit them and adds to a multi-layer defense I use to be seen while riding at night. Ride like you're invisible.
The shoes are awesome. Comfortable. True to the size chart. Soles are crazy stiff. Shoes are well built and being laced they are super easy with shoe covers.
Id buy these again.
Awesome shoes, stiff sole, lightweight, understated graphics... That's pretty much it, all I'm looking for in a shoe!
These shoes have a stiff sole, are lightweight, look good but best of all are easy to get an exact fit through the use of the laces. I have other shoes with rachets and boas but none have the custom fit of these Giros. The shoes included Giros adjustable footbeds but I was not too impressed with these but once replaced with my usual footbeds the shoes were very comfortable. These have finally replaced the last shoes I had with laces from 1990!! I love them and the price was awesome.
I ordered these in my normal size but they were small. No worries, the exchange was quick and the next size up was a perfect fit.
On the first ride the stiff sole was very noticeable! My old shoes had gone wobbly on me and I failed to notice.
I love these shoes and feel much more powerful with every stroke.
I absolutely love my Empires. I upgraded form a pair of Republics and had high expectations for these given the price. They exceeded all of my expectations in fit, comfort and style. Would absolutely recommend!
The only dislike is they run small. So if you wear a size 10, order 10 12 Europe equivalent. Very comfortable and come with supports for anyone with external or internal knee issues. Its nice to get back to a lace-up design. Additionally, the outer is reflective, which helps with visibility. Very important with todays driving style.
I am a big enough fan of the Giro Empires that I own four pair. The laces allow for customization of fit that is terrific....a little tighter or looser wherever you want. No worries about the laces coming undone as Giro has produced laces that do not come undone. They are light, they are comfortable, and they look great.
I came from a Fizik Uomo 5, which in its own right was stylish, comfortable and durable. However, when I slipped these on, it was a whole new world.
It was light as a feather, super comfortable, form-fitting, stylish and supportive. My Fizik's weren't heavy, but these were just ridiculously light. you can feel it from the start. I expected some break-in period, but for the most part didn't need it. It didn't feel like an old fair of shoes, but it was 70% there. It didn't have extra space under the center of my feet, which I could feel with my old pair.
One thing I didn't like is how careful you have to be because the outer can scratch easily.
I ride 120- miles a week and could not be happier with these shoes! No pain,no hot foot.
These road shoes are a very nice looking shoe, extremely stiff sole. They are comfortable but run a little small. The reflectivity is awesome, I dont normally ride at night, but its good to know I have that safety available. They did scuff a bit too easy so be warned
Have been using these Giro 2014 Empire AC road shoe for past three weeks (criterium and club rides) and are very comfortable. Definitely made a big difference on the hills lightweight and snug fit. The classic look also brought a lot of attention to fellow cyclists. Would recommend to anyone!
Great shoes great service and price
I love everything about it! The looks, the materials, the fit, the laces, and the right stiffness! Highly recommended
Excellent fit and performance is durable.
I started with lace up shoes with wooden soles you nailed cleats to. These shoes are like slippers with stiff soles. I like that you can sans the last eyelet to use your ankles better.
