I upgraded because my left pedal wasn't connecting and staying connected consistently. I must have been an issue with the pedal itself and not the pods because upgrading didn't fix the issue. It was better, but not 100%. Also, since these hang off the bottom of the pedal I was worried about snapping off one of the pods - well of course I did. Long story short - just spend the money and get the generation 3 pedals without the pods or some other power meter. These would be good if you V1 work and you use them on your indoor trainer
I broke one pod of the old version that I was using. Bought to replace the broken and also upgrade at the same time. I'd buy it even if I didn't break my old pods, and install them and use the old pods for a backup.
