I had previously used a Wahoo Kickr Snap as a smart trainer and began to experience issues with the flywheel (which are somewhat documented in the interwebs). As I am on a trainer for much of the winter and got hooked onto the video-game known as Zwift, I decided to give a direct drive trainer a chance. Overall, I am very pleased with CycleOps - very sturdy and well made. Carrying handle is nice and the feet fold in which is a plus because I am not allowed to leave everything in the living room when I train. No problems with connectivity with a Wahoo HRM and cadence sensor, nor with it talking via Bluetooth to an Apple laptop. Price point is steep, but would highly recommend if leaning towards direct drive for whatever reason.
When pair with the Virtual Trainigg software or Zwift this is a very powerful tool. Easy to connect to your phonebike computerPC this is a well built product. Definitely recommended
The Hammer is a lot of fun. I switched from an older school LeMond Revolution and the change has been outstanding. The unit was easy to set up and connect to my phone or ipad. I use the CVT app and Zwift and the sync process has been pretty seamless. I like all of the compatibility options for regular skewers or thru axl wheelsets. Highly recommended.
Its like really riding a bike. A little noisy, but bearable. No tire to slip on hard efforts. With dedication this has helped my performance on the bike dramatically.
I use The Cycleops Hammer for Zwift - solo rides and group rides - 500 miles so far with no issues
