fits just fine, the small was perfect. the chamois is a little thick and does cause some hot spots on warm, sweaty days.
These bibs are awesome. The Chamois is very well padded and the leg grippers do exactly what they should on these bibs. I'd recommend them to anyone!
I've only had these bibs through the winter season, so only one ride outside but several on indoor trainer and spin classes. The chamois is fantastic! Very comfortable and contours well to the body. It truly does feel invisible to the skin. I can't yet speak for it's long distance comfort. The fabric and construction are excellent and offer solid support and compression without feeling constrictive. I also love the styling on the black/black kit - just enough graphic edge without being gaudy.
My caution on the fit is this The free aero design sets the straps wide apart across your chest and is deeply cut down the front. I'm a 50-something ex-track and Crit racer and 6'-1205. If you've got a bit of a belly (like me) these bibs don't give the gut supporting (hiding!! ) effect of higher-cut bibs. Also, the wide-set of the support straps takes them along the outer edges of my rib cage and outside my nipples. This is great for cooling but does force me to wear band-aids as the straps ride against the side of my nipples rather than over them. However, this issue may only arise based upon your chest size.
I have two other Castelli bibs (both size small) that while they fit tight they are also comfortable. Thinking that this style Castelli bib would be sized similarly I purchase a small size. However I can hardly get these bibs on, these are much tighter than my previous Castelli bibs. Haven't tried to ride with them yet but the chamois feels great once I wiggle into the bibs. I just hope the seams hold up once I start riding. I would have returned them but had purchased the bibs on sale and there were no medium sizes at the sale price. I am 5'7 and 143 lbs with a 30 in. waist.
While Castelli can change sizing from time to time. These are some of my all time favorites!
The best thing about this short is its snug and compressive fit. Others recommend ordering one size up, but I order two sizes up. At 6 feet and 185 pounds I no longer have a 25-year-old physique, but I do not have a potbelly. The short is still tight across the thighs and snug over the shoulders. They remain comfortable with no sag over 25 to 50 mile brisk daily road rides. I like the minimalist chamois better than my more thickly padded Assos. One improvement that I would welcome is heavier gauge fabric in the shoulder straps, along the lines of the Assos. The Castelli tends to bunch at the shoulder.
Great chamois, comfortable straps, no bunching in the groin. I'm 5'8 and 165 lbs, and large is a good fit.
These are very comfortable bibs. I have two pairs. I prefer these to non bibs. They sit in place and dont cause chaffing.
This is my first time in Castelli and I am a believer!!! About me I'm 5'9, 168 lbs, 32 inseam, average thighs. I bought a size L and they fit snug but not too tight.... On the bike you barely think about them. Very comfortable, especially in the riding position. While I agree with others that the length may be a bit shorter than some other shorts, I like it.... they DON'T hit the knees like some shorts seem to, which I don't like. Also the front of the bibs is on the lower side, which is a good thing for when you need to take a nature break (as Phil and Paul would say - ha ha!). Overall, a great value - highly recommended!
Frankly, nothing I dont like about them. Other than Im going into Fall and Winter I wont be able to wear them as much
The Castelli bibs are the most comfortable shorts I wear. I am able to ride for HOURS with no discomfort. I highly recommend Castelli bibs. They really do run small relative to their identified size.
I wear these bibs 3 times a week year-round with a local cycling group. I love the fit (snug, but not too tight) and light feel of the fabric.
Like the fit and comfort over long rides
An awesome pair of bibs!......but be sure to order one or two sizes up from your normal size! Castelli is not the cheapest.....but you get what you pay for! Very comfortable for all day rides!
Great looking pair of bib shorts for long rides. Excellent feel and comfort. You may need to size up, I'm 5'11 and 175 lbs and large fits perfect.
I'm 5'11 190 lbs. I wear large in most cycling bibs or shorts. I followed the advice of many others & ordered XL. Perfect fit. They are comfy, cool, & stylish. The chamois is great for long rides. Too soon to say anything about longevity but was happy I bought these at % off. $ off brought them into the affordable realm for me. My only knock is the long tag in the rear.
You better order a size larger with these. Once I received the correct size, I kind of like them although you better get used to a new tan line.
You have to remember to order a size larger then you need since these always run small. I didnt and had to reorder.
I wore these shorts today on a 3 hour ride in 90 degree weather. They were awesome in the heat and I find them more comfortable than any of my other bib shorts.
I sized up from my normal Large size selection and purchased XL's. I am 185 lbs and 5'10.
already my fourth castelli aero race bib. by far the best product on the market. converted my wife and friends. everybody loves them.
use them for DK200 and don't have any butt pain after 200 miles
