Not so good for this commuter

As noted by another reviewer, the strap across the bottom near the toe allows the front of the cover to ride up. The strap is simply far too loose and is not adjustable. I consider this a major design flaw. I'm hoping a home-made fix - shortening the strap - will help. The bottomless design may be great for road racers. But not so much for a commuter. If you have to dismount and walk, be careful, because one false step gets water all up into your shoes and whatever protection you enjoyed while riding will be wasted. I may revise my opinion, but for now, I'm pretty sorry I spent the money when I could simply have tied some ugly-but-free plastic grocery bags to my feet and kept them drier! Or maybe I should have just tried something less expensive and more in line with my particular needs. I'm going to give them another try, but for now I'm sadder and wiser.

Great protection for my feet. It is nice to arrive at work or return home and not have wet socks, thus, wet feet.

I am an everyday commuter, and I use them on rainy days. I like them because they keep my feet 100% dry.The downside is the time it takes to put them over my shoes.

They keep you dry!

I just returned from a pretty wet ride. It rained hard and there was lots of standing water on the road. This ride was up into the mountains near Mt Rainier National Park. The rain didn't really start until I was over most of the climbing, so the real test for the booties was during the descent where I was riding at between 25 and 35 MPH. If you are going to get wet it is when you are doing that kind of riding. All I can say is that my feet stayed dry. This was a very nice change from the NorthWave booties I have worn for the last few years. They tended to leak, and on a day like today, I generally got home with my socks soaked through.

One minor negative is that there is a lot of extra fabric, at least in my size. I wear size 43 shoes, so I am the bottom of the size L booties. I would imagine someone with a 45 would be much happier with the fit in the L sized boots. I probably could have gotten comfortably into a size M, so anyone buying these might consider that in choosing which size to order.

Perfect for keeping my feet dry on a wet ride to work.

I'm an all weather commuter and these are my favorite covers for when it rains.

The back opens completely and the bottom strap secures with velcro to make them easy to put on and take off.

Not a snug aerodynamic shoe cover but perfect for keeping my feet dry on a wet ride to work.

Waterproof so far

I've worn these both with street shoes and bike shoes and so far they are very waterproof. There are plenty of adjustments for making them fit well with whatever type of shoes you're wearing.

Garbage, just tie trash bags around your ankles, they'll last longer

Keep out the wind and moisture effectively.

Tear very easy didn't last a month. The strap under the toe tore, the strap across the instep tore at the stitch, and the inside of the drive side cover tore from rubbing.

They worked great for their 3 week lifespan.

Definitely an Over shoe

Returned these because they were so roomy. I don't know how they would keep the rain out. Kind of like a mummy bag over your feet, but without adequate coverage on the bottom of the shoe. For a Pearl Izumi product, it definitely is a different shoe cover than their others. Might be better for those with normal hiking boots that commute? I don't know.

Got these on sale for a great price only to have to send them back. The front of the cover does not wrap around the toe of your cycling shoes. There is a very loose strap that runs under, but the cover lifts up off when air hits it. Also runs large in sizing. Only thing I could figure out is that they are designed for clunky mountain bike footwear.....

Good material, good construction, poor design for commuting... way too open on the bottom to stay in place and keep the water out - I sent them back before using them

Good shoe cover with one caveat
by Anonymous

These definitely do the job keeping the rain out, which for me has been a challenge with other shoe covers. The only caveat on these - the toe box of the shoe cover tends to ride up on the front of the shoe, exposing part of the shoe front while pedaling...if they tweaked the elastic design under the shoe I bet they could fix that, more of an annoyance than a product malfunction - overall they work as advertised.

The 2XL fit my size 51 shoes without issues.

I like that there is nolittle bottom to walk on and wear out.

I like the bright yellowgreen color

haven't had a chance to wear them in the rain yet, I'll post back after winter '13.
