Zipp Tangente Clincher Tire:
The only tire developed in the wind-tunnel. Not tested, not designed and then tested, but actually designed to optimize aerodynamic performance. Not only that but it one of the best gripping tires you'll ever ride. Zipp designed the entire tire and paid particular attention to the tread pattern. In fact they found that by using their patented ABLC dimples they greatly reduced teh drag. It took Zipp 14 months and 2 trips to the wind tunnel to get it right, but the dimples will save you 1-3 watts, or up to 9 seconds over 40km. That's a big deal.

But the Tangente is not just a delicate special event tire. Thanks to Zipp's partnership with Vittoria, the Tangente sports a durable yet supple 290tpi casing. In addition, because of the dimpled pattern resists cracking so well, Zipp was able to use an exclusive an extra-light rubber compound for low rolling resistance and high cornering grip in wet and dry conditions.

    O.K., While you're training, there's really no need for a ton of aero advantages. The increased power requirements resulting from less efficient aerodynamic equipment is probably good for making you stronger. On race day however, every little bit of aero savings helps. That's why you don't train with you expensive aero wheels every day but love to race on them on race day. So if you're like me, and know your engine can only create and sustain a certain amount of watts, then 1-3 saved by using Zipp's Tangente Tires looks real good. A few watts here and a few watts there and (at least in my mind) that finish line will come by just a little bit sooner (thank god!).

    I use these tires in races. They have dimpled technology to help with the wind. The rolling resistance is low. Since the tire is a leading edge, it makes sense to have this wheel to help with aerodynamics. This is a very sturdy tire and I always recommend it to anyone in a race.

    These tires have very lowrolling and wind resistance. They also corner very well. However, because ofthe latex tube used in construction of the tubular tire they lose about 4 psi per hour. I called Zipp to see if this was normal for the Tangente tubular and they confirmed that it was. These tires are great for short races such as crits and sprint triathlons but if you intend to ride longer races like iron distance triathlons or ultra cycling events go with a Tufo or Vittoria Triathlon.

    I've been riding on these tires for about a year, in races from Sprint to Ironman distance. They are really exceptional. They feel very light and subtle with noticably reduced road noise compared to Continental Sprinters I was using. They are also very fast and corner well. I echo other reviewers regarding pressure loss, but I found that they lose about 1 PSI per hour, so I can use them at IM distance, because I'm off the bike before they lose more than 6-7 PSI. The tires are well worth the cost if your'e serious about finding that last bit of free speed.
