Zipp Speed Shop Sub-9 Disc Wheel

Speed Shop Sub-9 Disc: Zipp decided to reinvent the wheel and has developed the first disc to product negative drag, in other words perpetual motion! Zipp used the most difficult wind tunnel testing protocol – a 30 degree down to 0 degree test run that starts with the airflow already separated from the rim. The Zipp Sub-9 Disc shattered every drag reading and at 15 degrees yaw it produced -80 grams of drag. And yes, that’s a negative 80! The Sub-9 Disc’s unique shape was designed to optimize the airflow properties as it comes off the tire when it’s acting as a leading and trailing edge. The torodial bulge also functions to improve the responsiveness and handling which gives the most comfortable rear wheels on the planet!
Zipp Wheel Features and Technology: Performance and research driven. Zipp continues to feature the best technologies in their wheels built with one goal in mind; to get to the finish line as quickly as possible!
If you are currently riding a Scott Plasma triathlon bike from 2008 or before in a size less than a Medium you may have compatibility issues with the Zipp Sub-9 disc due to the placement of the bulge in the toriodal rim shape. - Zipp’s Patented ABLC (Aerodynamic Boundary Layer Control) buldged rims provide optimum aerodynamics for the choosen rim depth.
- VCLC (Visco-Elastic Constrained Layer Control) kills vibration, increases stiffness and responsiveness
- ICT (Inversion Composite Technology) improves the stiffness and strength of the Zipp wheel through continuous banding of unbroken radial fibers.
- M2CM (Multi-Material Co-Molding) provides the means to unify two dissimilar materials and is key in designing the best performing clincher rims.
- Carbon Bridge technology improves stiffness and impact resistance while reducing the weight!
- 700c only
- Tubular weight 1000g
