The Shimano Dura Ace 7900 rear derailleur simply put is aesthetically beautiful, with it chrome finish and forged aluminum body. But when you look past the sexy look of the Dura Ace 7900 rear derailleur there is much more to tell.

The Shimano Dura Ace 7900 rear derailleur features a carbon cage which is a full 16 grams lighter than its predecessor, while the chain wrap capacity allows for huge gear selection. What does that mean? You can have a compact crank and have a 11x28 rear cassette and have no problems in shifting! Shimano also added more material at the pivots just like they have done in their XTR series. This allows for quicker and crisper shifting. An additional pin is placed between the unidirectional carbon fiber cages for durability and more reliable shifting.
