Shimano's Dura Ace 7900 makes two fundamental changes over the 7800 series. Firstly, Shimano has machined down the shifter boss to the utmost extreme, resulting in a drop of 17grams. Secondly, Shimano has done away with the optional friction shifting, which eliminated an additional spring dropping the weight by an additional 11 grams.
