Saucony Running Shoes
Saucony: 110 Years of Running
Founded in 1898, Saucony traces its early roots to the banks of the Saucony Creek in Kutztown, Pennsylvania. Native American inhabitants of the area coined the Saucony name which translated means “mouth of a creek or river.” In 1906, the Saucony Shoe Manufacturing Company built its first factory, a solid brick two-story construction along the Saucony Creek. Today, the Saucony logo represents the endless flow of that waterway, along with its boulder-strewn creek bed, depicted by the three distinct dots within the brand’s “river” mark.
Three decades since its first product award, the running industry continues to recognize Saucony for its innovation, technical leadership and quality product. Accolades have included numerous “Editor’s Choice” awards form Runner’s World magazine, as well as the publication’s “International Best Innovation” award. In 2007, the Independent Running Retailers Association presented Saucony with both its “Vendor of the Year” and “Product of the Year” awards.
