The easiest, most cost effective way to add power
July 20, 2017
I purchased the PowerTap P1 pedals for their ease of use and the ability to use on multiple bikes. I have these installed on my road bike and will use them on my tri bike as well. I like the idea of having consistent power measurement on multiple platforms. I also use the P1 pedals as my power sensor when on the trainer indoors, which seems to be more accurate than my trainer's virtual power. For the flexibility and ease of use, I don't think there's a more cost effective way to add power to your setup.
Pros:
Easy to install, can be used on multiple bikes, easy to replace batteries
Cons:
Can't think of any, these pedals are great so far!

Dual sided power
July 20, 2017
I switched to PowerTap Pedals because I wanted dual sided power. These measure the power in each pedal separately. (Most power meters measure the power on one side and then calculate the other side so I was not getting a true reading of my left-right balance.) I am getting a true reading of left-right balance with PowerTap. Another plus: if you rent a bike while out of town, you can easily take your pedals with you and get all your data just like when you're on your own bike at home.
Pros:
Dual sided power ==>accurate left-right balance data

PM Search Starts & Ends Here
July 19, 2017
Hands down best PM to purchase if you plan on using it on multiple bikes. I have minimal mechanic experience and swapping these pedals from my road to triathlon bike is a breeze and can be done in 2-3 minutes. I have this connected to a Garmin 920XT and haven't experienced power drops outside of when it's time to change the battery. This has also synced up without issue using Trainer Road, simultaneously connecting to the 920XT during those workouts hasn't been a problem. The only thing I did to make these feel better was to order the black cleats with 0 degrees of float.

Awesome!

I've been riding for many years with Speedplay pedals. Although these pedals are not compatible with Speedplay, I am so happy to have made the switch. Pedals are heavier, but only noticeable. Setup is extremely easy. Data is reliable, accurate, and all around high quality.

Super easy accurate power!
November 13, 2015
These PowerTap power meter pedals were very easy to install. Simply install the AAA batteries (included - 1 for each pedal) and then install the pedals as you would any other pedal, pair up your computer, do a quick calibration and you are ready to ride! The pedals paired right up with my old Garmin Edge 500 - this is as simple as it gets! I have been riding Time pedals for over 25 years so it did take me some time to get used to the narrower Q-Factor. The pedals are heavy but on the bike I didn't notice. After a week of riding my only beef with the pedals is that they do not spin as freely as a standard pedal. This is a problem when you go to clip in because the pedal doesn't "fall" to the neutral position (i.e. with the front end of the pedal pointing up so you can easily toe in) - this makes it challenging every time you have to clip in. I am hoping that they will loosen up over time.
Pros:
Super easy install Easy to pair with any compatible Garmin
Cons:
Heavy (although not noticeable when riding) Neutral position issues when clipping in

Super easy to install and accurate
September 5, 2015
I just received these new pedals. I took me all but 5 minutes to install them although it was my first time working with these pedals. In the future, I can probably install them in less than 1 minute TOTAL. They paired without any problem with my Garmin 920 XT, and 810. The convenience of being able to move your power meter from one bike to the next is a big plus. The pedals are a bit heavier than a 'simple' pedal (e.g., my Dura Ace), but noticeably so when riding. They seem well constructed. I have ridden them 4 times already and I compared their power with what my Quark (crank power meter) recorded on the same bike during the same ride. Results have been the same within 1-2%. These are winners!
Pros:
- EZ to install - EZ to pair with computer head - EZ to move between bikes
Cons:
- Heavier than a regular pedal (but not noticeable - at least not to me). - Cleats are specific to this pedal - they are not LOOK cleats (although they look close).
