Great for long runs!
March 10, 2014
I really wanted to give this pack 4.5 stars - not QUITE 5 stars, but close! I am sometimes really bad about drinking on long runs, because I hate having to wear a Camelbak that is constantly sloshing around. When I saw the Nathan vest on the TriSports.com website, I had to try it! These vests are certainly built more for endurance runners and ultrarunners, but there's no reason that it can't come in handy for us Ironman triathletes. I love the pockets up front - they are a handy way of carrying salt tabs, food, and even an extra water bottle or two, depending on how long you'll be gone. The pack comes with a 2L bladder, which will keep you set for quite some time. The most amazing thing about this pack is the multitude of straps that let you cinch the pack down in a number of variations to find the most comfortable fit. I couldn't believe how heavy the pack first felt when I went to put it on, but how I barely noticed once I had it on and cinched down. The only thing I didn't love was the bite mechanism on the bladder valve. I tend to drink water in big gulps, rather than sip along the way, and the bite valve was pretty regulated, so not much water could come out at one time. But, other than that, this is a great pack for those longer runs! Makes me want to consider doing some longer trail runs just to test out its full capabilities!
