product description
If you accidentally put these on in the winter instead of your arm warmers, you’ll be feeling like Frosty the Snowman by the end of your ride. The De Soto Arm Coolers are made entirely of Skin Cooler Stretch fabric. “What’s the deal with that Skin Cooler fabric?” I’m glad you asked! Skin cooler does not wick moisture away from your body like other materials, instead the special moisture-radiating composition actually offers a cooling effect by dissipating the moisture through channels to the outside of the fabric so just the lightest breeze will cool you down. They also block 75% of UVB rays, giving you another barrier between you and the sun, so they’re just a smart idea for those long summer training days.

Features:
  • Skin Cooler - Skin Cooler™ fabrics block 75% of UVB rays (the burning rays), about as much as a cotton t-shirt or a bike jersey. We recommend you wear sunscreen underneath these products. It is crucial to keep in mind that a sunscreen's (whichever brand you may choose) SPF/UPF rating refers only to its ability to protect skin from UVB radiation. Because we know that UVA damage can be just as insidious, it is essential for the health of your skin that you use a sunscreen that contains the UVA-protecting ingredients of titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, and/or avobenzone.

I have been using these for a few months during summer (Sydney). They work well when new, but after 3 months of wearing a few times per month are now stretched and useless. Winter arm warmers last for years of wear and i am disappointed in the quality of these.

These are the best. I play golf in one of the hottest islands in the Caribbean....and it sure is great having them on during the game and being able to take them off after golf and not feel hot and sticky.

Material is transparent mesh; breathes and blocks sun well.I'm 5'6,160lbs(average build) and a medium size was quite snug ,but figured a large would be too big

Not massively impressed with these. They do have a cooling effect, but doesn't seem to work in extreme conditions of SE Asia (35C + 90% humidity). Works well if soaked wet, but in these conditions you have to be sweating bucket loads to get a cooling effect which obviously defeats their purpose. I find they dry out within minutes once you start riding. Fabric is actually quite on the thick side so if they dry out reasonably you get an insulating effect. I now only use these when I can't be bothered with sunscreen and I'm doing an easy ride. That said, if you walk into an aircon'd coffee shop etc., your arms really do feel cold, so they must do something, but don't work in extreme conditions where you need them.

I bought the sleeves because I work as a housekeeper and needed something to cover my tattooes (wearing long sleeved top under the uniform was not an option) and I can say that they are very comfortable, they do have a cooling effect and I can recommend them to anyone with similar problem to mine

I live in one of the hottest places on the planet - and do most of my riding during the hottest time of the year. I used these throughout my Kona training and they work great. Extra sun protection w/ out added heat. If you work out when it is hot - or the sun is just beating you down - then I recommend these arm coolers.

These sleeves kept my arms cool and free from sunburn. It was very hot on the bike portion of IMAZ 08. These sleeves made a huge difference and I would recommend them for anyone with heat "issues".

These things are great! They actually do help keep you cool as you sweat. I live in the tropics and train almost every day and having a high sweat-rate, I like the fact that it has somewhere to go instead of my gloves. Plus, not always having to slather sunscreen up and down my arms to get in a long ride in the relentless sun is nice (they seem to block as much sun as most sunscreens). I recommend them highly.
