    Great All-Arounder

I glued these on new to some training Zipp 404's and nearly a year later, they're still on that set. Despite having ridden on rough canyon roads, dirt, through mud, over glass and on hard and bumpy roads for over 10,000K's combined I've yet to have a flat. There's no way around it...I'm astounded at the puncture protection of these tubulars, it's something I've never seen, and I certainly didn't expect that the wear life would exceed that of tire integrity with regards to flats. As training tires they've seen most nearly all conditions, from climbing up, and descending, the mountains of Colorado to the flat, (but dirty), coastline stretches from La Jolla to Oceanside and have never had issue. During smaller races, (road, triathlon and TT's), when the wind dictated that 808's, 1080's or disc's couldn't be used, I swapped on the 404's and never felt need to carry a spare. Furthermore, and triathlon specific, out-of-the-water pressures were quite nearly exact to that which I dialed in during check-in on the longest swims, 50-60 minutes, which is never the case with Tufo's I've used or CX's. So why not 5 stars, then?! Well, they're quite hard and the Black Chili compound takes warming up before you can really lean over the bike in corners without trepidation, (all in all they grip at that point as well as any tire I've used); those interested in these tires for crits should certainly note that downfall. Also, the ride can be quite harsh compared to other, higher TPI casings you find on EVO CX's and the like. Lastly, the storability of the tire as a spare is quite nearly laughable and will compact down to a still very large 10''x2''x2''...although this will still fit under the saddle. In the final analysis it's a fantastic tubular, and if you find that you might someday use your training tubulars for a race, they are perfectly suited to the call. They're not specific tubulars - not race oriented, not training oriented, but in each application they excel..and I like that.
    Pros:
Multifunctional, Nearly Puncture Proof, Sturdy, Holds Pressure Very Well
    Cons:
Not Compact Enough, Tad Heavy for Races
    Best Uses:
    Endurance Training, Training, Races
