product description
The Grand Prix 4000 works on every road surface, transforming the demands of different styles of riding and supplies extremely long-term performance. It also achieves expectations in precision and production quality. The new reference standard for racing tyres.

Puncture resistance: The Vectran breaker belt, developed and patented by Continental, surpasses even the famous puncture resistance of the former leader in this category, the Continental GP3000. The extremely strong Vectran fabrics are more flexible and lighter than all other puncture protection materials. Vectran offers more resistance to cuts than Aramid, is five times as strong as steel and features less weight than a nylon double breaker. It also maintains strength in the wet.

Tread: Features tread wear indicators to help riders gauge the life of their GP4000 tire. On the one hand you don't lose mileage performance by prematurely replacing the tire and on the other you don't risk safety by using the tire beyond its tread service life

Features:
  • Colors: Black(B), Blue(U), Red(R)
  • The successor to the highly popular Grand Prix 3000
  • 20% less rolling resistance
  • More lightweight
  • Stronger puncture protection
  • Higher mileage
  • Anti ageing compound and tread wear indicators
  • Black Chili compound.

    Best All-Around Racing Tire
    August 13, 2011
I have been using Continental GP4000s 700x23 tire with black chili compound as a race tire. In my opinion this is the tire for the average IM/70.3 distance out there. It is very fast rolling tire according to the studies out there but yet has has remarkable handling and great puncture resistance as well. There are faster tires, but this tire is one of the products that you just use and you don't have to worry about it. As an additional benefit this tire has good aerodynamic properties and has a clean transition from tread to sidewalls.
    Pros:
Low Rolling Resistance, Puncture Resistant, Good Cornering, Aero, Excellent Grip, Durable
    Best Uses:
    Serious Racing/Training

    GP4!

These tires are by far the only tires I will be spending my money on from here on out. I put tires through the toughest of tests. In the streets of Tucson there are many forms of hazards and road conditions cyclists must beware of. These tires can easily hold their own through the dirt and debris or anything the streets throw at them. The reason I emphasize on the durability of these tires is because typically for durable tires you need a very hard based rubber, which compromises handling. This is simply not the case for the Grand Prix 4000's. These tires will last forever! The rubber compound is a harder based rubber, which quiet amazingly can heat up very well offering amazing handling through city traffic, for turning on a dime and stopping on a penny. The grip on these tires is amazing, easily has the traction of the Gatorskins with the rolling resistance of the Triathlon in the conti tires series. By far the best overall tire you will ever ride on, and quite possibly the best tire to be made for some time to come. I have just now finally gone through my first set in 5 months, whereas I would be eating through gatorskins, serfas SECA's, and bontrager near religiously on a bi-monthly basis. (I really treat my tires badly) In the end; the price tag, although a hefty one is totally worth every penny for almost every cyclist. Racing, Commuting or just riding.
    Pros:
Excellent Grip, Good Cornering, Low Rolling Resistance, Durable

I ride in the twin city bicycling club over all this is a good tire and works well , but if this tire gets cut it will fail from bead to bead and you will call for a car.

This is an excellent tire. 160 maximum psi, very light and low rolling resistance make this a great racing tire and/or fast training tire. Bottom line: This tire will help you ride faster.
