2009 Quintana Roo Cd 0.1 Triathlon Frameset

2009 Quintana Roo CD0.1 Triathlon Frameset:
Finally a company that understands that the fluid flow around a bicycle is not symmetric! In designing the Cd0.1 Quintana Roo recognized that the drive and non-drive train sides of a bike effect the fluid properties differently. This insight led QR engineers to develop a truly innovative design that would capitalize on the asymmetry of the entire fluid-bike system. The end result? An aero frame set that has the lowest drag coefficient ever, Cd0.1. This feat was accomplished due to various reasons, of which the following highlights key contributions QR engineers made in the design to create the most aerodynamic bike ever.
In creating the design QR focused solely on guiding the air to the clean side of the bike, which is on the non-drive side. To accomplish this they created - what QR calls - "Shift". They manipulated the downtube closer to the bottom bracket (which is pictured to the right). However this doesn't necessary guide the air flowing from the
front of the bike toward the clean side. This is when QR decided to bulge the front fork making the distance between the fork and your rim larger. The air is accelerated through this opening (while the wheel is turning) and due to the asymmetric downtube is guided toward the clean side of the bike! This also eliminates a stagnation point at the leading edge of the downtube. Lastly, Quintana Roo guides the airflow to the rear of the bike through a
smooth transition from the bottom bracket area to the asymmetric chain stays. By manipulating each chain stay - changing the shape, orientation, and title - the air exits the fluid-bike system cleanly without increasing the drag.
Features/Benefits:Shift: While riding, a surge of air is created from behind the front wheel. The unprecedented aerodynamics of the Cd 0.1 enables suction to draw the wind off to the “clean” side (non-drive side) of the bike. Thus, less resistance is created, making you the sleekest rider on the course.
In addition to aero shapes throughout the frame and fork, the Cd 0.1 features a slightly offset downtube. This feature allows the wind to flow naturally from the head tube and front wheel to the clean side (non-drive side) and stream past the rear wheel. After numerous trips to the wind tunnel, this performance enhancing design rewards you with the least amount of drag ever recorded
Frameset purchase includes frame, fork, seatpost, headset and TRP 925 brakes.
